Mr. David Rivkin, Chair of Legal Practice Division of International Bar Association (IBA) and partner of Debevoise & Plimpton, visited CIETAC on August 6, 2008. Mr. Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CIETAC received the visit.
Mr. Rivkin is among the 12 sports arbitrators invited by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to decide upon various disputes arising before and during the games. During the meeting, Mr. Rivkin introduced some cases he heard as a sports arbitrator and informed on the procedure and time limit of a sports arbitration case.
Mr. Yu Jianlong, in response to Mr. Rivkin's interest in CIETAC's development, introduced to the guest the caseload of CIETAC in recent years as well as the reform made by CIETAC to its arbitration practice.
The two sides expressed the hope to cooperate on different occasions to promote the information exchange among international legal communities, and agreed to jointly host a conference in November this year in Beijing.
